A
Reptile Show in the Making
The
History Behind Our First Reptile Show
As an experienced reptile breeder that has spent years
in the industry, I have decided to put my experience
to the test and put on a reptile show that will WOW
everyone who steps in the door. This includes my fellow
reptile vendors
AND the guests, no matter if they are into reptiles
or not. The goal is to put on a reptile show where
everyone will leave happy.
Putting on my own reptile expo has been
a dream and passion of mine ever since I began attending
them. After years of studying them, I finally decided
to put on my own expo this July 23 and 24 of 2011
in Myrtle Beach, SC.
Reptile Show Dates and Location
The show dates and location were carefully
chosen during a time where there were no other nearby
reptile shows scheduled the same weekend. This was
an extremely difficult task due to the ridiculously
increased volume of them.
Did you know that there were approximately
60,000 tourists in Myrtle Beach last year the very
same weekend we’re putting on our reptile show?
Perhaps you are one of those tourists or if we’re
lucky, you will be this year. It’s a hot vacation
spot where the vendors and reptile lovers can
make a vacation out of it and the tourists can find
an excuse to get out of the hot sun and fulfill their
curiosity.
Reptile Show Vendors
My intentions are focused on shedding
new light on the reptile industry by putting my ALL
into providing the most vendor friendly environment
where all of you will walk away happy. This includes
reasonable table rates, convenient setup accommodations
and an expo-schedule filled with relevant entertainment.
But let’s not forget about the main reason “we”
vendors make appearances at these shows.
Obviously, we all want to generate lots
of sales to make our time and effort worth our while.
Mainly, we do that by competing with retail costs
and sell our reptiles at wholesale cost. Unfortunately,
that alone will not do the trick all the time.
It's not always easy to do well at conventions. Because
I want all of my vendors to walk away happy I want
to help you, help me, achieving both of our goals.
As a way to do so, I’ve decided to share some
of my personal insights on reptile shows. Now, they
are my personal opinions I’ve developed through
my years of experience so feel free to agree or disagree.
Reputation Counts
Getting your company name out there is huge. Most
people who attend these shows looking for a good deal
are familiar to the reptile industry. Many times we
contribute the guests to the well known vendors. Regardless
whether or not the big name vendors bring in visitors,
it doesn't mean they will not purchase from the smaller
named breeders. If your reptile company is not yet
completely established, this is your time to shine.
Take advantage of the opportunity. Don't sit down
the entire time. Stand up and engage with the potential
buyers that walk by. Get to know them and understand
their wants and needs. And keep in mind, everyone
who attends is a potential customer.
Reptile Show Guests
There are two types of guests. There are those that
are into reptiles and those that are just curious.
Either way, here are just a few reasons both parties
will enjoy their visit.
There will be:
- A variety of reptiles for sale that will be available
to purchase at wholesale cost
- Several “big named” vendors you may
not have seen, under the same roof, in a while
- Venom extractions conducted by Jules Sylvester
- Venomous reptiles and non-venomous reptiles
- Special appearances from Illusionist/Magician, Carl
Michael
- Appearances from famous Nat Geo and Animal Planet
reptile handlers
- Frequent giveaways
- And much more…
Thank you, in advance,
for all of your support. I look forward to seeing
all of you there!
